Teaching Team Update June 24th

Hey all!

Well, I do believe that all three people from the Facilitation Selection Cell will be at California Camp that day, which has no phone reception. It may be possible for one of us to go into town for the call. I’m going to talk to Jude and Jason and see if one of them is willing to do so (see below for more on that).

I’m going to go out on a limb here and send y’all what I believe to be our final team for 2009. If I’ve made any mistakes, I’m sure we’ll hear about it soon enough. But as far as I know, the team looks like:

Jude, Crystaline Ruby Muse, and Captain – something amazing
Robin Hood (aka Birch) and Jason Scarecrow – elements in the elements
Brook and Peti – singing path
Amara, Seneca, Rebecca, Brush, and Rain – co-created community path
Youth tribe – still to be found

Of course, that team needs to be okayed / endorsed by this cell before it can be official.

One thing I want to throw out there is about the Priestessing Path idea we had. One of the reasons it has taken us so long to get this team together is that we tried, for months, to find a core set of experienced teachers / ritual facilitators to do a path on priestessing for FAWC 2009. In a nutshell, it just wasn’t happening the way that we wanted it to. The dates that we have conflict with Spiralheart Camp, Witchlets, and are close to Vermont Camp and BC Witchcamp, so the teachers that were committed to those camps couldn’t do it. Others weren’t able to front their own travel / miss work / had financial considerations, and still others simply had personal commitments. It’s a tough time to get people to come teach for free, I think. I definitely think that for next year we need to consider having camp in July if at all possible, and (sigh) start recruiting earlier in the year.

Anyway, Jude, Crystaline and Captain came together to create a path that would take the place of the Priestessing path, but I don’t know if it will be like the one that we consensed to at the face to face. So, I think its important that to talk about that.

One more thing from me: as many of you know, I’m not coming to camp this year. I’m excited about the work that I’ve done with theme and story and the selection process, and I’m also really ready to be off of my workgroups. The truth of the matter is that it simply makes me too sad to devote all of this energy and get excited for something that I cannot do. I hope to come up a day or two before camp to spend time with y’all, but that may not be possible. We’ll see. Anyway, after this week I won’t be checking this yahoogroup anymore, and I also won’t be on the upcoming call. I love you all and hope you have an amazing time at —!

Lotsa love,
Riyana
